OK so we’re a twelfth of the year in already but we think we’re just about in time to wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2020!
Our year started in the usual way with a trip to the beach. There was a certain degree of bravery this time as surfing occurred despite the risk to extremities in the ridiculously cold water. Luckily all fingers and toes were accounted for and everyone had a wonderful time chasing the waves and burning off Christmas calories (well, at least until the bags of piping hot fresh chips arrived smothered in ketchup at which point the Christmas calories were swiftly re-consumed in what can only be described as a piranha-like feeding frenzy. It wasn’t elegant. Mainly due to the numb fingers).
A day-trip to the Eden Project was another traditional West Country post-Christmas outing that was absolutely brilliant. Lots of amazing things to see including the view from the spectacularly high viewing platform in the rainforest biome and Luke Jerram’s amazing Earth artwork.
One of the best bits was the Infinity Blue sculpture that ‘breathed’ out vapour rings. Magical.
And back in the studio we’ve been planning this year’s programme of half-day workshops.
It doesn’t seem like any time since Rachel and her mum came in together and made these lovely matching bags.
Sarah from the cornucopia of treasures that is Ilfracombe Museum also popped in and made a stunning red bag in a similar style.
And Jenna made a lovely envelope-style bag that had a fabulous gold lining.
If you fancy coming along to a workshop we’ve got them lined up for 15 February, 21 March, 18 April and 16 May so far. Workshops for the second half of the year will be added nearer the time. Please get in touch to find out more or have a look at the workshops page on our website.
In other news we’re excited to be taking part in The Big Fix 2020 on Saturday 15th February.
Chulmleigh is opening its own repair cafe in the Town Hall for the afternoon where people can bring along household items for repair by volunteers whilst they eat cake and have a chat. Brilliant! It’s all part of a bigger mission to reduce waste and to share skills in communities.
We’ll be in our workshop over the road ready to help with any mending that needs doing (can’t really move our industrial sewing machines so we have to do it onsite) so if you’ve got any leather or canvas items that need restitching pop in and see us. Feel free to bring cake!
